Our great uncle, Mike Corcoran, started Newport Tent Company in 1971 after purchasing a tent to use for his auctions. That first tent grew into a full scale tent company, which our uncle, Bill Corcoran, purchased in the early 2000s.
We were raised putting up tents to sell Christmas trees with Uncle Mike across from First Beach. Eventually, a few of us graduated from being paid in hot chocolate and donuts to working for Billy during the summer at Newport Tent. During those years we learned the craft working closely under the wing of Uncles Bill and Andy.
The love for tenting never stopped and has brought us to where we are today. In 2022, Luke a full time Newport Firefighter, decided to keep the family tradition alive with Leys & Co. Tents. What started as a couple of tents in our parent's garage has grown into a proper rental business serving Newport County and beyond.
